Biographies of the Mayor and Council

Mayor Pat Lepore

Mayor Pat LeporePat Lepore has served as mayor of West Paterson for eight years and has resided in the borough for over 37 years. Mayor Lepore was re-elected to a third term in November 2005. Pat is a full-time elected official who was elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2007 to the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He retired in 2005 from George Weston Bakeries Entenmann’s Division and is a member of IBT Local 802, Long Island City, New York.

Mayor Lepore has championed causes important to West Paterson’s working families. Most recently he has aggressively pursued the acquisition of the New Jersey American Water Companies water system in order to reduce the water prices for many borough residents.

Pat has worked hard to bring sewer lines to residents who currently rely on septic systems. He is dedicated to maintaining open space through the hundreds of thousands of dollars West Paterson has acquired grant money. Pat is also devoted to keeping West Paterson the safest community in the area. read more...




Councilman Dominick Di Domenico

Councilman Dominick Di DomenicoDominick DiDomenico was sworn into his third term on the governing body in January 2007. Dominick served as Council President 2003 and 2005. Before becoming a Councilman, he served for six years working on the West Paterson Board of Education. While on the Board, Dominick worked to provide the best education possible for our children.

Councilman DiDomenico is the Commissioner to the Police Department and serves as the Chairman of the Laws and Ordinance Committee. A former member of the West Paterson Boys and Girls Club and the Passaic Valley Football and Cheerleading Parents Association along with his past role of Senior Citizen Commissioner, Dom has developed a keen understanding of the needs of West Paterson’s youths and seniors. read more...




Councilman Keith Kazmark

Councilman Keith KazmarkKeith Kazmark has served on the Council for seven years and is a member of the Van Winkle family that has resided in West Paterson for over 55 years. Keith was appointed in 2007 as the Municipal Clerk in the Borough of Elmwood Park.

Keith is a graduate of Passaic Valley and Syracuse University where he received a BFA in Art Education. Keith also completed a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from New York Institute of Technology. Keith remians a certified teacher in New Jersey and New York and is a member of the United Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO.

Councilman Kazmark currently serves as Chairman of the Recreation and Community Relations Committee. He is a former Summer Camp Director, a past member of the Municipal Alliance, and current member of the West Paterson Boys and Girls Club. read more...




Councilwoman Tina Gatti

Councilwoman Tina GattiTina Gatti was sworn for her third term on the Council in January 2007. Councilwoman Gatti serves as the Chairwoman of the Public Works Committee.

Before her election to the Council, Tina served as Chairwoman and a member of the West Paterson Board of Recreation for five years. She has worked hard to improve the Recreation programs in town. One of the major programs that Tina pushed to improve is the West Paterson Summer Camp.

Tina has also served as co-chair of the West Paterson Youth Month Program, been involved in the Passaic Valley Operation Graduation, and has held the position of Treasurer for the Memorial School Home and School Association. In 1999, she received the “Woman’s History Month” Award for her years of community service. read more...




Councilwoman Rita Pascrell

Councilwoman Rita PascrellRita Pascrell is serving her seventh year on the West Paterson Council and was selected this year to serve as Council President. Rita is a former Administrative Assistant with Nordic American Bank in New York City. She grew up in Paterson and is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and attended the Garden State Business School.

Councilwoman Pascrell is the Chairwoman of the Administration and Finance Committee and acts as the Commissioner to the First Aid Squad. Rita has worked with the First Aid Squad to increase funding to the First Aid Squad. A former member of the Beatrice Gilmore and Memorial Home & School Associations, Rita has organized our Memorial Day Parade and served on the Municipal Alliance. read more...




Councilwoman Ruth Patterson

Councilwoman Ruth PattersonRuth Patterson entered her fifth term on the Borough council this year. Ruth served as council President in 2002 and in 2006. During her tenure on the Council, Ruth has served as Chairperson of both the Finance and Ordinance Committees. She is currently serving as Chairperson of the Public Safety Committee and as Fire Commissioner. She is also a member of Health and Senior Services and Laws & Ordinances Committees.

Aside from her council duties, Ruth has been involved in various community projects and organizations. She is a member of Passaic County 20/20, a former member and Chairperson of the West Paterson Municipal Drug Alliance, and Chairperson of the National Night Out. Ruth also coordinates the 9-11 Remembrance Committee. A former member of West Paterson First Aid Squad and past president of the Board of Health, Ruth understands what it means to work to better borough services for all residents. For her efforts, Councilwoman Patterson received a “Women in Government Award” twice, once in 1998 and again in 2001. read more...




Councilman Joseph Spinelli

Councilman Joseph SpinelliJoseph Spinelli is serving his third term as a Councilman in West Paterson. Joe retired from the West Paterson School District in June 2001 and now acts as Math Department Head at Mary Help of Christian High School in North Haledon. He is a graduate of Passaic Valley High School,

William Paterson University (BA, Education), and Mary Grove College (MA, Education). Joe is also a former member of the West Paterson Education Association and a past coach at Passaic Valley High School.

Councilman Spinelli is the Chairman of the Health and Senior Services Committee and spearheaded the Affordable Prescription Drug Program now available to West Paterson residents. During this term, Joe and his committee have worked to develop a senior citizen call in program with the Police Department for seniors who live alone. read more...
