TWO ADS, TWO VERY HYPOCRITICAL STATEMENTS

West Paterson – Republican mayoral candidate Steve Fazio has put out two TODAY Newspaper advertisements that lay out some very, very hypocritical statements to the residents of West Paterson.

Hypocritical Statement # 1:

In a September 4th advertisement, Fazio stated he will “not seek higher office.” Yet, that is exactly what he is doing. As a current member of the School Board, Fazio will be required to resign from that position should he be elected Mayor.

“What type of backwards campaign, puts in writing that their candidate will not seek higher office, when the candidate sits on the school board and is running for Mayor?” asked West Paterson Democratic Chairman Michael Kazmark.

Hypocritical Statement # 2:

In a September 18th advertisement, Fazio attempts to level criticism of Mayor Lepore’s “Team,” and the appointment of the Borough Auditor, Steve Wielkotz. Wielkotz has been the Borough Auditor for years, under both Democratic and Republican Administrations.

But most hypocritical of all, is that Steve Fazio, has voted TWICE to hire Wielkotz, as the auditor for the West Paterson School Board. To see the vote for yourself, click on http://www.wpschools.org/boe/minutes/min04242008.pdf and view the last vote taken on page 4.

“It’s quite amazing that the Republican mayoral candidate would criticize the Borough hiring an Auditor who has served the town well for so many years under both parties. But, what’s even more preposterous is that he, himself, voted to hire the SAME auditor in April of 2007 and April of 2008 to manage the school board’s fiscal affairs. You can’t have it both ways,” stated Council President Rita Pascrell.

“Truth be told, this is not Steve Fazio writing this stuff anyway. It’s the same old GOP puppet show, with the same old Republican bosses writing inaccurate information on behalf of their candidate. The unfortunate part of it all, is that they are making Mr. Fazio out to look foolish, because he is running for higher office – when he said he wouldn’t, and he voted for the same professional he’s now trying to criticize,” concluded Councilman Keith Kazmark.
