WP DEMOCRATIC COUNTY COMMITTEE NOMINATES LEPORE FOR 4TH TERM

West Paterson – The West Paterson Democratic County Committee members selected Pat Lepore as their party’s candidate for Mayor during a two-hour meeting on Saturday morning

“I hate to be cliché, but as the old saying goes, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it,” said West Paterson Democratic Chairman Michael Kazmark said of the meeting.

“Pat Lepore has done a great job as Mayor. He retired early from a good job to be a full-time elected official. He deserves to complete the work his administration has started,” said Councilman Joseph Spinelli, who is also a District 1 County Committee Member.

Lepore was first elected as Mayor in 1996, chose not to seek re-election in 1999, because of personal issues and was tapped by local Democrats to run again in 2002. He was re-elected in 2005.

“I am honored and proud to have been chosen by my fellow Democrats to represent our party in the fall election. It’s not been an easy road these last six years. We inherited many challenges from the previous administration. A failing Municipal Building, a budget where the prior Mayor didn’t raise taxes, yet sent spending through the roof, and poor roads and infrastructure. We’ve turned that around, with the lowest tax increase in years, a 15-year road improvement plan, utility projects and the completion of renovations to Borough Hall,” said Lepore.

“Mayor Lepore came in and made a great presentation to the committee. He’s eared the trust of not only Democrats, but Undeclared and Republican voters as well. I’m confidant he will be returned to the Mayor’s office in November,” commented District 3 County Committee Member Joseph Pascrell.

Pat Lepore has served as Mayor of West Paterson for nine years and has resided in the borough for over 38 years. Mayor Lepore was re-elected to a third term in November 2005. Pat is a full-time elected official who was elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2007 to the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He retired in 2005 from George Weston Bakeries Entenmann’s Division and is a member of IBT Local 802, Long Island City, New York.

Mayor Lepore has championed causes important to West Paterson’s working families. Pat has worked to create a 15-year road resurfacing program and has aggressively pursued the acquisition of the New Jersey American Water Companies water system in order to reduce the water prices for many borough residents.

Mayro Lepore nrought sewer ans water lines to residents who currently rely on septic systems and well water. He is dedicated to maintaining open space through the hundreds of thousands of dollars West Paterson has acquired grant money. Under Pat’s admisntartion West Paterson is ranked as the safest community in the area.

Pat is a member of the West Paterson Municipal Alliance, the Alfred H. Baumann Library Board, the Planning Board and is a past member of the West Paterson Boys and Girls Club. He and his wife, Linda, have one son, Robert who recently returned from Iraq, completing his tour with the United States Marine Corps.
